About

Mountaineering Level 2. Mountain route level PD-AD (Partially Difficult_Quite Difficult). Our base camp is at the CAS Moiry hut (Grimentz) in Val d’Anniviers, with accommodation in dormitories. Ascent to the Moiry hut, rock climbing school, climbing, ice school on the Moiry glacier, cramponing, and ascent of Pointe de Mourty (3563 m). Intended for resourceful mountaineers who have already completed a week of mountaineering (with very good physical condition and an intermediate climbing level). Picnics are held outdoors at the base of the routes or in the mountains. Breakfast and dinner are taken at the hut; participants assist the warden with tasks at the refuge.

Detailed Program

Day 1: Participants meet at the Shell station in Signy on Monday at 10:00 AM, bus transfer to Grimentz. Ascent to the CAS Moiry hut, alpine instruction.
Day 2: Mountain climbing routes, most important elements of climbing technique for mountaineering, rope maneuvers at the belay, slings and short roping applied to multi-pitch routes (double ropes), practice of more difficult lead climbing, multi-pitch route, placement of natural protection, scrambling in heavy boots.
Day 3: Alpine rock instruction: equipment, knots, rope handling, roping up in a team, short roping progression, rope positioning on rock spikes, belay setup in the mountains, advanced self-rescue techniques, preparation for a more difficult route, route choice and weather. Progression towards autonomy. Mixed terrain.
Day 4: Alpine ice instruction: ice school, use of crampons and ice axe. 12-point cramponing, lateral, frontal, ice axe use, balance exercises with the ice axe, step cutting, glacier roping. Ice screw belay setup, ice axe traction: ice wall climbing.
Day 5: Application of concepts learned so far: Pointe de Mourty and return to the valley, bus return to the Shell station in Signy, participants dismissed at 4:00 PM.

-1 pair of hiking pants + 1 pair of rain pants mandatory! (K-Way)
-Waterproof Gore-tex jacket with a hood that protects the face well (in case of wind); ski jackets are not waterproof, too bulky in the backpack, and too heavy, please avoid them!

-Odlo-style clothing
-change of clothes
-sturdy, warm, high-top mountain boots with rigid soles (trekking shoes are insufficient)
-beanie
-cap
-warm gloves or mittens (2 pairs)
-gaiters
-flashlight / headlamp – water bottle min 1 L

-clothes for evenings at the refuge
-change of clothes for sleeping

Don’t hesitate to invest if your equipment is old or ill-suited; your child won’t regret it up there! If you have other questions about the equipment, please don’t hesitate to call us.

Supervision is provided by a certified mountain guide. We reserve the right
to cancel the camp depending on conditions or lack of participants.
Price:
Our prices are per person and include guide supervision, half-board in camping, refuge, gîte, or hotel, midday picnic, technical equipment, and transport. Drinks at refuges are not included.
Group activities:
Group activity numbers are calculated by the number of people per guide based on safety criteria for the activity itself. Camps are held in a good atmosphere and for the well-being of young people. Disrespect and actions not conforming to the smooth running of the camp will be sanctioned, and the child will be sent home to their parents.
Registration:
A registration is only considered upon payment of a registration fee corresponding to the camp price.
Cancellation:
If, for any reason, a registered person withdraws from an activity, a 100% retention fee will be charged. No camp once started will be refunded, except in the case of a medical problem where a camp credit will be opened for the participant.
Insurance:
Participants are not insured by the mountain guide. It is the participant’s responsibility to have adequate health and accident insurance (including accidents that may occur during mountain tours).
Each participant must have helicopter rescue and repatriation insurance. For participants who do not have such insurance, we offer a REGA form to be completed and paid before the camp. Price/person: CHF 30.
Participant’s responsibility:
The participant or the participant’s legal representative assumes:
– full responsibility for damages caused intentionally or unintentionally to facilities or
other items owned or rented by PROGRESSION
– repatriation costs following dismissal
– postal return costs for clothing and other items
Medical file:
Any medical problem must be reported to PROGRESSION in writing.
Transport:
Each participant must arrange their own transport to the camp’s meeting point
