This week consists of 5 full-day climbing sessions (non-residential), primarily at different indoor climbing gyms each day. From Nyon, Lausanne, or Geneva, we travel by minibus to various indoor climbing centers along the Lake Geneva region, and also, depending on the skill level, to nearby outdoor climbing spots to experience this activity outdoors. This is an ideal camp for young children to get familiar with the sport, start, and progress safely.
Supervised by an instructor, children climb beautiful routes in modern and varied climbing centers. First steps in wall climbing, bouldering with mats, learning knots, first climbing routes, team games, pedagogical and progressive learning of climbing with patient instructors attentive to the children. Learning, gaining self-confidence, all while having fun and making new friends.
We gradually train children in rope techniques, knots, and progression techniques on the climbing wall. During this learning period, we travel by minibus to climbing gyms and sites specially designed for children, which allows them to gradually adapt their physical condition and also to progress in pure climbing. Picnics take place in the climbing gyms or outdoors. Lunch is eaten at a large table, and children participate in meal preparations and tidying up. Vegetables or fruits are present every day at the picnic. Games are organized during the day.
Day 1: Parents and children are welcomed at the meeting point (Geneva, Nyon, Lausanne), children are equipped, personal equipment for the day is checked, and picnics are loaded. Socialization activities to get acquainted and integrate into the group. Distribution of technical equipment for the week. Games & fun activities in the climbing gym. At noon, children prepare the picnic.
Day 2: Climbing, familiarization with the use of climbing techniques in bouldering traverses, first climbing routes on the climbing wall. Progression of climbing learning, body balance, foot positioning, progression rhythm, breathing, rock reading, top-roping. Games & fun activities in the climbing gym. At noon, children prepare the picnic.
Day 3: Learning and consolidation of belaying knots (figure-eight knot) and securing knots (Munter hitch), easy climbing in climbing shoes on the wall, practice and familiarization with top-roping. At noon, children prepare the picnic.
Day 4: Fun climbing day: team games, speed contests, blindfolded climbing, technical exercises, problem-solving. Games & fun activities in the climbing gym. At noon, children prepare the picnic.
Day 5: Climbing. Ascending a fixed rope. Learning to rappel, possibility of descending an overhang (spider-style). Games & fun activities in the field. Return of technical equipment. Parents are welcomed for the children’s return home.
